Description
=1887-O VAM-20 Doubled 88= Discovered by Martin Field, April 1982. Revision by VAMfinder, August 2009, Revision by Brian H. 2016 20 (revised) III2 17- C3a (Doubled 88) (181) Obverse III2 17- Doubled 88 in date with left 8 strongly at bottom outside of lower loop and right 8 only slightly also at bottom outside of lower loop. Date at right edge of normal lateral position. ''Die marker'' - Four short vertical die scratches inside ear. Reverse C3a - Lower edge of arrow feathers and left shaft slightly doubled. (2009) DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # The doubling of the arrows gets lost on LDS examples. # There is an evil mimic of this VAM that is yet to be listed. The mimic does not have a doubled 88. While still "normal" - the date is at the opposite end of normal (almost near V.S. almost far). Both have doubled arrow bits and gouges in the ear.
