=1883-CC VAM-5B Doubled Date, CC/CC= Michael Ash's VAM-5B reclassified to VAM-5D, Discovered 2015 by Nate Mailliard 5B (revised) III22 · C3d (Doubled Date, CC/CC) (178) Obverse III22– Die polished removing clashed N & T and weakening metal in denticles below 18 and dash below right 8. Reverse C3d– Die polished removing most and then all clash marks. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # 1883-CC VAM-5 dies are believed to have the 1883-CC VAM-5A wing scratch in all stages. These dies were clashed and repolished several times. There are two stages of the 1883-CC VAM-5A. One has the N clash clearly visible. The other has the prominent 'starburst' patterns at both wing tips (this was the original version of 1883-CC VAM-5A before the clash was listed. The polished version of the 1883-CC VAM-5A (no letter transfer) is the 1883-CC VAM-5B, and before the 1883-CC VAM-5C and 1883-CC VAM-5D in the sequence. # VAM-5 STAGES (5 --> 5A --> 5B --> 5C --> 5D) # Despite LVA's description, the revision coin still shows a very slight tick of the N on the obverse, however the T was in fact eradicated. # 1883-CC VAM-5B comes with and without the dash under the second 8 in the date.
