Description
1881-S VAM-29 Doubled First 8 Discovered by Martin Field, December 1979. 29 III2 16 - C3a (Doubled First 8) (186) Obverse III2 16- First 8 doubled on surface at right inside of both loops. Both 8's show short die chip inside upper loop at 11 o'clock. Emission Sequence Obverse: 1881-S VAM-48, 1881-S VAM-14A, 1881-S VAM-64/29 Reverse: Comments: While listed with a normal reverse - the 1881-S VAM-29 has a doubled left wreath (see below). It appears that 1881-S VAM-29 was relisted as 1881-S VAM-64. Elimination pending review... The exact same obverse die was used to produce the 1881-S VAM-14A (& presumably the 14), 1881-S VAM-29, 1881-S VAM-48 & 1881-S VAM-64 (64 & 29 are the same pending review...).
