Emission Sequence Obverse: 1881-S VAM-1A1, 1881-S VAM-42. Reverse: 1881-S VAM-1A1, 1881-S VAM-67. Comments: This exact obverse die was used to produce the 1881-S VAM-1A1 & 1881-S VAM-42. In the later die stage of the obverse, there is a chip between loops of the first 8 on the right side. The scratch through the hair curl is quite visible on both die stages. This exact reverse die was used to produce the 1881-S VAM-1A1 & 1881-S VAM-67. 1A1 is known in PL so perhaps it was first. This die pair shares NO die with the 1881-S VAM-1A.
