Error
Description
Discovered by Bill Fivaz, September 1974. 16 III2 8 - C3a (Die Chip in Leaves) Obverse III2 8 - First 8 doubled on top surface inside and bottom outside of lower loop and left inside and right outside of top loop. Second 8 has bulge at top left outside of lower loop. Reverse C3a - Large die chip on wreath opposite NI of UNITED on some specimens. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 1881-S VAM-16, 1881-S VAM-16A, 1881-S VAM-2, 1881-S VAM-32 :Reverse: 1881-S VAM-56, 1881-S VAM-16, 1881-S VAM-16A Comments: # The 1881-S VAM-90, 1881-S VAM-2, 1881-S VAM-32, 1881-S VAM-16 and the 1881-S VAM-16A were made with the exact same obverse die. # This exact reverse die was also used to produce the 1881-S VAM-56. # There is an EDS version of this die pair with NO chip on the leaf (1881-S VAM-16).
