Description
=1880-P VAM-5 Doubled Date= Discovered by George Mallis, June 1965. 5 III2 4 ∙ C3a (Doubled Date) (180) Obverse III2 4 – Entire date is doubled. 1 doubled on right side of vertical shaft and below bottom of crossbar. First 8 doubled slightly on left inside of loops and bottom right outside of lower loop. Second 8 is doubled on lower left side of upper loop. 0 doubled on top left and right and on left inside. Some specimens show a large vertical die crack through 0 extending from hair down to the rim. Reverse C3a – Normal die with two fine diagonal die scratches in lower part of eagle’s right wing. Reverse shared with 1880-P VAM-5A, 1880-P VAM-6, & 1880-P VAM-10.
