Description
1880-P VAM-28 Doubled Second 8, Tripled 0 Discovered by Jim Baxter, October 1977. Revised 2011. 28 (revised) III2 28 ∙ C3a (Doubled Second 8, Tripled 0) (181) Obverse III2 28 – Right 8 slightly doubled at lower outside of upper loop, 0 tripled at lower left inside and doubled at top left and right outside. Die marker - Vertical polishing line at cap fold. Reverse C3a – Faint thread-like die impression at bottom of eagle's left wing. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: 1880-P VAM-47/47A were eliminated as a duplicate of 1880-P VAM-28/VAM-28A. 1880-P VAM-28 and 1880-P VAM-28A were both struck from the exact same pair of dies.
