=1879-P VAM-7 Doubled 9= Discovered by Charles Wallace, April 1959.Revised 2017 7 (revised) III2 7 - C3a (Doubled 9) (179) Obverse III2 7 - Upper left outside of 9 is doubled. Some specimens show die chip between loops of 8 on the left side. Open 9 variety. Die 2: (AKA: 1879-P VAM 7.2); Die marker - Long diagonal polishing line below Phrygian cap fold. Raised metal chips below 18 from master die and on working hub in denticle spaces and above on some specimens. Die 3: (AKA: 1879-P VAM 7.3); Die marker - Diagonal die scratch atop hair curl. Some specimens show small die chip at eye front. (see photo below) Die 4: (AKA: 1879-P VAM 7.4); Die marker - Widely spaced vertical polishing lines below cap fold. Reverse C3a - Normal die Comments: # 1879-P VAM-7 is a family of VAMs consisting of 1879-P VAM-7.2, 1879-P VAM-7.3 & 1879-P VAM-7.4. This family will most likely be broken up into 3 different VAMs (with at least 2 of them not having a 7 in the number). None of these share either the obverse or the reverse.
