Description

Completing the second design group in aluminum, J-1064 extends the modified Seated Liberty half dime concept into the most exotic available metal. Each aluminum pattern in the Trade Dollar era series posed the same fundamental question: could this miraculous lightweight metal serve the practical demands of everyday coinage? For the tiny half dime denomination, aluminum's lightness was less problematic than for larger coins, since the half dime was already among the easiest coins to lose in a pocket.

Rarity Notes

R-7 to R-8. Very rare, approximately 3-8 examples known.
