Description
Featuring a modified Seated Liberty obverse with a slightly different arrangement of the drapery and stars, J-1062 was struck in the standard silver alloy. The subtle die differences between this pattern and J-1059 reflect William Barber's ongoing refinement of the Seated Liberty concept, even as the denomination approached its congressional termination. Such minor variations in the half dime patterns document the engraving process itself, revealing how Barber adjusted proportions between successive die sinkings.
