The 1871 Proof Dime Pattern - J-1083 is a Judd listing for a proof dime pattern of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series that USPatterns.com has not confirmed. Its obverse is James B. Longacre's Indian Princess design, cut into dies by William Barber, who succeeded Longacre after his death in 1869: Liberty, in an Indian headdress, sits facing left with her left hand on a globe bearing a LIBERTY scroll and her right holding a pole topped by a liberty cap, with flags behind her. This die has stars around the border, and the reverse is the Standard Silver reverse of 1870, with STANDARD above the denomination in a wreath of corn, cotton and wheat. USPatterns.com has not confirmed a nickel example, believes the listing describes the nickel half dime J-1067a, and no longer gives the number in its table. Judd lists it in nickel with a reeded edge. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1219 and Adams-Woodin 1167. Cataloged as PCGS #61342.
