Description
The aluminum version of the modified star-arrangement dime, J-1079 extends this design concept into the most experimental composition available to the Mint. Among dime patterns, aluminum strikings are particularly scarce because the tiny planchets were difficult to produce uniformly in this challenging metal. The piece represents the intersection of artistic refinement and metallurgical ambition that defined the Trade Dollar era pattern program.
