Description
The aluminum variant of the first dime design group, J-1076 applies the exotic lightweight metal to the Seated Liberty motif. On the dime-sized planchet, aluminum creates a coin of remarkably low weight that nonetheless carries the full artistic detail of the proof striking process. The silvery-white aluminum closely approximates the color of the standard silver alloy, making visual distinction between the two compositions challenging without handling the piece.

R-7 to R-8. Very rare, approximately 3-8 examples survive.
