Description
Reproducing the modified star-arrangement design of J-1077 in copper, this dime pattern served the dual purpose of metallurgical comparison and design evaluation. The warmer tones of copper can make the spaces between individual stars more visually apparent, providing useful feedback about spacing decisions that might be less obvious on the cooler-toned silver version. Such detailed analysis of star arrangements was characteristic of Barber's meticulous approach to pattern design.
