The 1868 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-632a is a proof five-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It pairs Longacre's coronet Liberty head without a star with a reverse that has a large six-pointed star above the wreath, a die first used on J-565. USPatterns.com regards this aluminum listing, from the Farouk sale, as a misdescription of the regular-dies piece J-636 and recommends delisting it. It is struck in aluminum with a plain edge.
