Description
The 1868 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-630 is a proof five-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It pairs Longacre's coronet Liberty head, with no star on the coronet, with the 1867 reverse showing a V above an ornate shield. About half a dozen are known. It is struck in nickel with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-700, Adams-Woodin 679 and Taxay EP525. Cataloged as PCGS #60847.
