Description

Judd-427 is the fifth 1865 proof quarter motto pattern, featuring a near-final configuration of the With Motto design. This penultimate variety in the standard series represents one of the last design concepts evaluated before adoption. The motto's placement on a scroll above the eagle, its letter size and style, and the proportional relationship to surrounding design elements had all been refined through years of experimentation across dozens of varieties.
