Description

Judd-432, Pollock-503, is the fourth 1865 proof half dollar motto pattern. This variety returns to the standard silver composition after the extraordinary aluminum J-431. The penultimate 1865 half dollar pattern represents a near-final design configuration that closely anticipates the adopted With Motto half dollar of 1866. The total half dollar motto program across 1861-1865 produced twenty-five varieties, more than any other denomination.
