Description

Judd-429, Pollock-500, is the first of five 1865 proof half dollar With Motto patterns (J-429 through J-433). The half dollar had been the primary testbed for the motto since 1861, and these 1865 patterns represent the fourth and final year of that development. Building on twenty prior varieties across three years, these last half dollar patterns made the ultimate refinements before the With Motto design entered regular production. Struck in silver with proof finish.
