Description

ADC-1c-1865-01 This Indian head cent (fancy 5), shows a strong unabraded die clash on both the obverse and reverse dies. This coin comes to us courtesy of Robert (Bob) Russell. . The overlay provided gives the relative position of the dies when they did clash. The picture below shows the clash marks left by the ribbon around the arrows clashed in between the words STATES and OF. The next picture shows the C of CENT and the leaves of the wreath clashed in front of Liberty’s face. Part of the N from ONE can be seen clashed below Liberty’s ear. Parts of the leaves can be seen clashed into the V of the feathers in Liberty’s head dress. Liberty’s profile can be seen clashed into the reverse die. Parts of Liberty’s headdress can be seen clashed into the words ONE CENT. The last S of STATES can be seen clashed into the space between the feathers of the arrow and the ribbon’s end.
