1865 Indian Head Cent - Fancy 5 - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1865-01

Description

ADC-1c-1865-01 is an atypical die clash on an 1865 Fancy 5 Indian Head cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. Both dies show strong clash marks that were never abraded, and MDC's overlay gives the die positions at the clash. On the obverse, the ribbon around the arrows left marks between STATES and OF; the C of CENT and leaves of the wreath show in front of Liberty's face, part of ONE's N sits below her ear; and leaves show in the V of the headdress feathers. On the reverse are Liberty's profile, parts of her headdress across ONE CENT, and the last S of STATES between the arrow feathers and the end of the ribbon. The coin is courtesy of Robert (Bob) Russell.
