Description
1858 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1858 Flying Eagle cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong Class II spread toward the center shows on UNITED STATES and on the eagle's eye and beak. Wexler has no die markers for either side yet: the coin examined was a circulated piece, and better examples are needed. William R. Van Note submitted the variety, which Delma K. Romines discovered. Cross-references: Snow-3, and CONECA 1-O-II.
