About This Coin
The 1832 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent Base is a United States cent from the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. The Mint reported 2,362,000 cents for 1832, though some of that year's cents must carry other dates; no mintage was recorded for the proofs. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Minted during the age of Jacksonian democracy. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, with a plain edge. Designed by Robert Scot.
