Description
The 1832 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a cent in the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. The Mint reported 2,362,000 cents for 1832, but only three die pairs are known for the date, so some of that year's cents must carry other dates. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Minted during the age of Jacksonian democracy. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1690.
