Description
A cent from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1832 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent - Large Letters belongs to the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. Philadelphia struck 2.4 million cents dated 1832 in all; how many have the large letters is not recorded. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Minted during the age of Jacksonian democracy. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1687.
