Description

A 1795 Washington Liberty and Security penny featuring a bust of Washington facing right with the legend LIBERTY AND SECURITY. The penny denomination (1D) is larger than the halfpenny varieties. The reverse displays a heraldic design. These British-made tokens were part of a series celebrating Washington and American ideals of liberty and security.

Rarity Notes

Scarce. The penny denomination is less common than halfpennies in this series.
