1788 CT 1/2P Mailed Bust Right Half Penny
Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
A 1788 Connecticut copper with the mailed bust facing right, an unusual orientation for the later issues of the series. By 1788, most Connecticut coppers featured left-facing busts, making this right-facing mailed bust type a distinctive variety. The series was winding down by 1788 as the new federal Constitution rendered state coinage unnecessary.
Rarity Notes
Moderately scarce. Right-facing busts are uncommon in 1788.
