Description

A 1787 Connecticut copper continuing the popular Hercules Head type first seen in 1786. The bold, muscular portrait facing left is notably larger and more powerful than standard busts. The Hercules Head style represents the work of a specific die sinker, James Atlee, who created several distinctive portrait styles.
