Description

A distinctive Connecticut copper muling that combines a British George III halfpenny obverse die with a Connecticut copper reverse die. These mulings occurred at the mint operated by Abel Buell or an associated facility, where both Connecticut copper and counterfeit British halfpenny dies were available. The existence of these mulings provides evidence of the close connection between authorized state coinage and counterfeit British copper production.

Rarity Notes

Very rare. Mulings of British and Connecticut dies are rare and historically significant.
