Description
This 1785 Immune Columbia piece is struck in silver with a reeded edge. These pieces pair the eye-and-stars obverse of the Nova Constellatio coppers with Liberty seated, holding scales, and IMMUNE COLUMBIA 1785. Crosby lists them in gold, silver and copper and thought the dies probably cut by Thomas Wyon of Birmingham; no record says what they were struck for. Crosby had seen five in silver, all with the same obverse and milled edges. PCGS number 829.
