1783 Washington & Independence - Copper Restrike Plain Edge Cent
Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
A later copper restrike of the 1783 Washington & Independence cent with a plain edge. Like the grained edge restrike, this piece was produced from the original dies after the initial production run. The plain edge variant is distinguishable from the grained edge by the absence of edge reeding. Both restrike types preserve the original design of Washington's draped bust and wreath reverse.
Rarity Notes
Scarce. Plain edge restrikes are less common than grained edge.
