1783 Washington & Independence - Copper Restrike Grained Edge Cent
Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
A later copper restrike of the 1783 Washington & Independence cent with a grained (reeded) edge. Restrikes were produced in the early 19th century using the original dies. The obverse features a draped bust of Washington with WASHINGTON & INDEPENDENCE legend, and the reverse shows a wreath with ONE CENT. The grained edge distinguishes this from the plain edge restrike.
Rarity Notes
Scarce. Restrikes are more available than originals but still uncommon.
