Description

A 1776 Continental Currency dollar in pewter featuring the inscription "EG FECIT" (Latin for "EG made this") on the obverse, refer to engraver Elisha Gallaudet. The EG FECIT inscription is one of the most important clues to the identity of the die cutter. Gallaudet was a New York engraver active during the Revolutionary period. This pewter striking with the maker's mark is a key variety in the series.
