Description

A 1776 Continental Currency dollar in pewter with the "Currencey" spelling (extra E). This is one of several pewter die combinations in the Continental Currency series. Pewter was chosen as the primary striking metal because silver and gold were needed for the war effort. The "Currencey" variant with the extra E is distinct from both the correct "Currency" and the "Curency" (missing R) dies.
