About This Coin
The REPUB AMERICA group of the Washington Pieces (1783-1800) series holds the pieces described below. Baker lists two medals by Thomas Wyon with a bust in civil dress signed WYON: No. 68 with GEORGE WASHINGTON and 1796 below the bust, and No. 69 with the dates of his birth and death. Both have a reverse with a cannon, fasces and caduceus behind a scroll reading REPUB AMERI and a legend of his career, and Baker records them in bronze and tin.
