Description

CCL(T1)-50c-1983-02 is a Type I counter clash on a 1983-P Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. In the life of these two dies it comes right after CCL(T1)-50c-1983-01, which already showed three clashes and a counter clash made while the dies were misaligned toward the eagle's left side. Later the dies clashed twice more, this time toward the right side of the eagle. That left two counter clash marks from the eagle's left wing (on the viewer's right), and on the eagle's left side Kennedy's nose now appears, with olive leaves a little below. MDC chose to list this as its own entry rather than a stage of die 01, and notes that it is not clear how many coins of either counter clash were struck. Its photos mark the counter clash outlines (both wings, the nose, some olive leaves) with turquoise arrows, the earlier counter clash with pink arrows, and the clash marks behind the counter clash with lime green arrows; a final comparison with white arrows shows the same die markers on BJ's coin. J Cuvelier owns the coin.
