Description

A silver (AR) striking of the Large Sansom Medal (GW-60A) from circa 1879. The "Large" Sansom Medal is a larger-format version of the original Sansom Medal design, providing more space for the artistic details of the portrait and allegorical reverse. This later silver striking was produced for the collector market during a period of increased interest in Washington memorabilia coinciding with the centennial era.
