(ca. 1797) Lead Medal GW-66 Uniface - Copper Plated
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
A lead (Pb) uniface medal cataloged as GW-66, with copper plating, from circa 1797. Uniface medals have a design on only one side, with the other remaining blank. The lead composition with copper plating indicates this may be a trial striking, a splasher (impression from another piece), or an inexpensive reproduction. The copper plating was applied to improve the appearance of the soft lead base.
Rarity Notes
Very rare. Uniface lead medals are unusual survivals.
