(1806-07) Bronze Medal GW-58 - Sansom Original Silvered
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
A silvered bronze (AE) original striking of the Sansom Medal (GW-58), produced circa 1806-07. The Sansom Medal, designed by Joseph Sansom, features a bust of Washington on the obverse and an allegorical scene on the reverse. This original striking predates the later reissues and restrikings. The silvered finish gives the bronze medal a bright, silver-like appearance. The Sansom Medal is one of the most important early Washington medallic issues.
