The 2025 (P) Dr. Vera Rubin Quarter represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the American Women Quarters (2022 - 2025) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 55,800,000 Vera Rubin quarters dated 2025. The obverse features George Washington facing right in a new dynamic portrait by Laura Gardin Fraser (modeled in 1931 and first used on a quarter in 2022) and the reverse displays unique designs honoring prominent American women who shaped the nation's history. The reverse shows Dr. Vera Rubin in profile, looking up, with a spiral galaxy and other celestial bodies around her and DARK MATTER inscribed at the bottom. The other inscriptions are DR. VERA RUBIN, QUARTER DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Astronomer whose pioneering observations of galaxy rotation rates provided key evidence for the existence of dark matter.
