Description

2023-P MT WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 2023-P Maria Tallchief quarter (American Women series), cataloged by the Wexler team. Strong doubling to the east shows on the IA of MARIA and the TAL of TALLCHIEF. Obverse markers: a crack across the bridge of the nose; a thin NW/SE scratch right of the eyebrow; a small gouge over the last T in TRUST and another gouge to the right of that T; two small gouges over the G in GOD; a gouge left of the L in LIBERTY; and a gouge well to the right of the Y in LIBERTY. On the reverse, three gouges sit above the A and T of STATES, between the two letters; a large gouge lies at the rim over the first A in AMERICA; a gouge sits between the U and R of PLURIBUS; and gouges lie to the left of the third and fourth Osage letters. James Cassin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
