The 2022 (D) Dr. Sally Ride Quarter, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the American Women Quarters (2022 - 2025) collection. The U.S. Mint produced 278 million examples, making this ranked 13th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with 11% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing right in a new dynamic portrait by Laura Gardin Fraser (her original 1931 design, finally adopted 90 years later) and the reverse displays unique designs honoring prominent American women who shaped the nation's history. First American woman in space, flying aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1983. The reverse shows Ride next to a shuttle window gazing at Earth.
