Description
The 2021 (P) American Innovation Dollar - North Carolina, Position B is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 454,150 examples, making this ranked 7th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 6% of production. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with a geared background representing innovation and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring innovations and innovators from each state and territory. This coin honors the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which opened in 1795 as the nation's first public institution of higher learning. New Hampshire (the first home video game system — Ralph Baer), Virginia (the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel), New York (the Erie Canal), and North Carolina (the first public university — University of North Carolina). Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition.
