Description
The 2021 (D) American Innovation Dollar - New York, Position A is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 453,825 examples, making this ranked 3rd of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 6% of production. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with a geared background representing innovation and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring innovations and innovators from each state and territory. This coin honors the 363-mile Erie Canal completed in 1825, which connected the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, dramatically reduced shipping costs, and fueled the growth of New York City as a commercial hub. New Hampshire (the first home video game system — Ralph Baer), Virginia (the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel), New York (the Erie Canal), and North Carolina (the first public university — University of North Carolina). Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition.
