2020 (P) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-001

Description

DDR-001 on the 2020-P Roosevelt Dime is the first catalogued doubled die reverse for this date and mint. The dime was struck in copper-nickel clad composition at the Philadelphia Mint — silver was eliminated from dimes after 1964. The reverse exhibits a medium spread on the upper right central olive leaf in the lower right leaf cluster of the reverse design. Die state progression covers three stages, with die pair UVC and DMR codes pending final assignment. Stage A is Early Die State. Stage B advances to a state defined by a die crack originating from the bottom of the torch and die chips on the nose and cheek of Roosevelt's portrait — cracking and chipping affecting both the central reverse device and the obverse portrait simultaneously.
