2020 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-009

Description

2020 WDDO-009 is a doubled die obverse on the 2020 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The ERTY of LIBERTY shows light extra thickness. The Y is thicker at its upper right than at its upper left, and the ERTY is notched at its lower left corners. On the obverse, a gouge heads NE from the bottom of the nose, and there may be a small chip on the upper part of the T in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a crack crosses the shield's top left, above the LURIB of PLURIBUS. Kemar Williams submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments call this die extremely similar in character to WDDO-007; whether it is a later stage of WDDO-007 has not yet been ruled out by in-hand examination.
