2020 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

2020 WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 2020 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY shows moderate extra thickness. The Y is considerably thicker at its upper right than at its upper left, and the ERTY is notched at its lower left corners. Wexler records two stages. The Stage A obverse has a die dot in the R of LIBERTY, a gouge well over the E of LIBERTY on its right side, and a gouge right of the middle of the 2. On the Stage B obverse, the dot in the R is still visible, but the other markers could not be assessed; a small gouge (dot) appears between the tops of the G and O in GOD. On the Stage A reverse, a die dot sits on the shield above the E of ONE on its left side, and a gouge lies in the shield over the center right side of the C in CENT. On the Stage B reverse, the Stage A markers could not be assessed; a small gouge lies right of the shield's top peak, and another lies north of the N in CENT on its right side.
