2020 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

2020 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 2020 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY shows moderate extra thickness. The Y is slightly thicker at its upper left than at its upper right, and the ERTY shows light notching at its lower right corners. Wexler records two stages. The Stage A obverse has a small gouge over the R in TRUST on its left side, and small gouges below the R of LIBERTY and below the right side of its Y. On Stage B, the gouge over the R in TRUST is no longer visible, while the gouges under LIBERTY remain; Stage B adds two chips on the lower part of the T in LIBERTY and a small gouge inside the upper part of the second 0 in the date. On the Stage A reverse, a small gouge lies right of the first A in AMERICA, near its top. On the Stage B reverse, that gouge has worn away; there is a chip on the shield's left side, SW of the E of EPU, and a gouge SW of the lower shield.
