2020 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

2020 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 2020 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date shows moderate extra thickness and LIBERTY slight extra thickness. The Y is slightly thicker at its upper left than at its upper right, and the ERTY shows light notching at its lower right corners. Wexler records two stages. The Stage A obverse has a gouge over the E of LIBERTY, a gouge right of the upper part of the N in IN, and several small gouges (dots) below the ear. On the Stage B obverse, the gouge over the E is slightly weaker, and the gouges by the N and under the ear are weaker too; new markers are a gouge well above the T of LIBERTY, several small grouped gouges (dots) well above the LI, and two small chips on the first 2 of the date at its lower left. On the Stage A reverse: chips on the lower right of the C and E in CENT, a gouge under the left side of the E in ONE, and a light crack under the LURI of PLURIBUS. On the Stage B reverse, all of those remain, joined by a gouge (dot) left of the J in JFM and gouges (dots) inside the R of PLURIBUS at its lower left and over the left side of its I.
