2020 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-019

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 2020-P WDDR-019 and cross-referenced under the same Wexler Variety ID, this Philadelphia Mint Jefferson Nickel presents Class VIII tilted hub doubling below the upper left portion of the door frame on the center door above the steps of the Return to Monticello reverse. The upper left focus differentiates this from several other 2020-P WDDR varieties that show doubling in the upper right or lower portions of the same doorframe area — precise positional distinctions that separate otherwise similar-sounding Class VIII varieties on the Monticello design. Reverse die markers include a die crack or depression on the left edge of the building, a die gouge below the first A of AMERICA, and a die gouge between the lower portions of the first U and R of PLURIBUS. The die crack on the building edge represents a progressive marker that may worsen as the die ages, potentially connecting to the documented crack patterns in later die states.
