2020 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-016

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team, the 2020-P Jefferson Nickel WDDR-016 shows Class VIII Tilted Hub Doubling affecting the right side of the upper portion of the door frame on the center door above the Monticello steps, with doubling visible both above and below this architectural element. The obverse die marker consists of a small die gouge on the lower left portion of the first 0 in the date. Reverse markers include a die gouge inside the upper portion of the E of FIVE and a small die gouge in the field below the E of MONTICELLO. While many 2020 Jefferson Nickel DDR varieties share the Class VIII tilted hub mechanism and concentrate around the Monticello center door area, each variety is distinguished by its unique combination of die markers and the specific location and extent of the doubling. The WDDR-016's rightward emphasis on the door frame separates it from other 2020 varieties that may show doubling more centrally or on the left side of the same architectural feature.
